1-Electricity Meter Reading

  • You would need your electricity meter reading to allow your current electricity supplier to correctly bill you for the amount of energy you have used. You can take this reading yourself or call your supplier for it.
2-Electricity Tariff
  • This tariff is actually the charge you would pay for the electricity supplied to your home
3-Energy Supplier
  • This refers to the gas or electricity supplier who provides energy to your home.

  • The Energy watchdog helps you in case if you have any complaints with your current gas and electricity supplier.
5-Gas Bill
  • With the help of this bill, you can get the amount of energy you have used and how much you need to pay.
6-Gas Meter Reading
  • The meter reading is need to allow your current gas supplier to accurately bill you for the amount of energy you have used. You can take the meter reading yourself and either call your supplier and tell them or enter it online if you have a tariff that allows you to manage your account through the Internet.
  • You should also have your meter read by the appointed meter operator who should read your gas meter on behalf of your energy supplier. In some rural areas meters are not read as often as in larger towns and cities.
7-Gas Tariff
  • The charge you will pay for the gas supplied to your home.
8-Kilowatt Hour (Kwh)
  • Kwh is the unit of measure for both gas and electricity supplied to your home.
9-MPAN
  • Mpan is also called as "m number" and this can be found on your electricity bill. You will need this number when you switch your current provider.
10-MPRN Number
  • It is called as meter point reference number which you need in case you wish to change your gas supplier. Each property in UK which has a gas supply has an MPRN number. You can find this number on your bill.
